Blackpeak Insights: Mining Technology Market Update October 2026
Blackpeak Capital are pleased to present an update report on the ANZ Mining technology market which includes a market map of participants across the mining value chain as well as trends in M&A & financing activity across public and private markets (see link below).
The mining industry is undergoing a period of rapid transformation, with structural tailwinds driving the adoption of technology in a sector that has historically lagged in digitisation. Rising input costs are pushing miners towards tools that maximise yields and track and reduce costs, while AI is now accelerating the shift to autonomous mining, embedded in fleet automation stacks and geoscience analytics.
Global OEMs are moving up the value chain from selling equipment to offering integrated hardware & software solutions, with Caterpillar’s ~A$1bn acquisition of RPMGlobal and Weir’s A$1.3bn acquisition of Micromine setting new benchmarks for platform assets. Global miners are also investing directly through venture portfolio’s, while financial sponsors are attracted to the ability to embed AI within products and the defensibility that a hardware component brings.
